Buffalo Soldiers

Made in 2001 and held up by the post-September 11 climate, this controversial dark comedy focuses on a group of misfit American soldiers stationed in 1990 West Germany. Working as a battalion secretary, Joaquin Phoenix turns his peacetime boredom into a lucrative business selling goods on the black market. But when he falls for the daughter (Anna Paquin) of tough sergeant Scott Glenn, will Phoenix have to clean up his act? Ed Harris, Dean Stockwell, Elizabeth McGovern co-star.
