A young woman is gang-raped in a bar while onlookers cheer on the attack. The subsequent court trials question her 'easy' lifestyle and whether she initiated the event herself. Jodie Foster gives an outstanding, wholly believable performance as the victim of both the crime and the prejudice against her because of her lifestyle. No movie before has shown so vividly the humiliation, fear, anger, loneliness and frustration that a rape victim must and does endure. This film certainly gives us a better understanding. Based on a true story.
